Offensive Strategy
Pressure Fighting
Walk your opponent down. Cut off the ring by stepping to the side they’re trying to escape to. Use the jab to close distance, then unload combinations inside.
Combination Punching
Never throw single punches. Always in combinations of 3–5 punches. Common effective combinations:
- Jab-Cross-Hook (1-2-3) — the bread and butter of boxing
- Jab-Jab-Cross (1-1-2) — the double jab sets up the power hand
- Jab-Body-Hook-Cross (1-2b-3-2) — mixing head and body keeps defenders guessing
- Cross-Hook-Cross (2-3-2) — the power combo when you’re inside
Angles
Never stand directly in front of your opponent. After throwing a combination, step to one side. This takes you off the center line where counter-punches land.
Body Work
Body shots drain energy, lower the guard, and set up headshots. A fighter who ignores the body leaves 50% of the target area unattacked.
The simplest offensive principle: Jab your way in, throw your combination, move your head, and get out. Repeat.
